VSE Demo System Monitoring

Introduction

Prmoetheous based Monitoring powered by Grafana dashboards has been implemented by DBA Demo COE Team to provide proactive monitoring of our Control-M demo systems. By visualizing key performance indicators and system health metrics, we can identify and address potential issues before they impact our demonstrations. This dashboard is essential for maintaining the stability and responsiveness of our demo environments

Dashboard Descriptions:

  1. VSEPROD Application Analysis

Purpose: Provides a holistic view of the VSEPROD and PSCTM environments, focusing on the health and performance of Control-M and Enterprise Manager (EM) applications.

Key Metrics:

  • Control-M process status and resource utilization.

  • EM process status and performance.

  • Agent availability and connectivity.

  • Connection profile health and status.

Benefit: Enables rapid identification of application-level issues, ensuring smooth and uninterrupted demonstrations.

  1. VSEQA Application Analysis

Purpose: Similar to VSEPROD Application Analysis, this dashboard focuses on the VSEQA and AUS-QA environments.

Key Metrics: (Same as VSEPROD Application Analysis, but for VSEQA and AUS-QA)

  • Control-M process status and resource utilization.
  • EM process status and performance.
  • Agent availability and connectivity.
  • Connection profile health and status.

Benefit: Provides critical insights into the QA environments, supporting thorough testing and validation.

  1. CTM Endpoint Analysis

Purpose: Monitors the availability and performance of critical Control-M web endpoints.

Key Metrics:

  • EM Web URL availability and response times.
  • SSL certificate validity and expiration.
  • Probe duration and consistency.

Benefit: Ensures that web-based access to Control-M is reliable and secure.

  1. CTMPRD Linux Server Details

Purpose: Provides in-depth monitoring of the Linux infrastructure supporting the CTMPRD environment.

Key Metrics:

  • CPU utilization, memory usage, and disk I/O.
  • Network traffic and performance.
  • System load and uptime.

Benefit: Enables proactive identification of infrastructure bottlenecks and resource constraints.

  1. CTMPRD Windows Server Analysis

Purpose: Provides in-depth monitoring of the Windows infrastructure supporting the CTMPRD environment.

Key Metrics:

  • CPU Utilization, Memory usage, disk I/O.
  • Services status.
  • Windows event logs.

Benefit: Enables proactive identification of infrastructure bottlenecks and resource constraints.

  1. CTMPRD PostgreSQL Database

Purpose: Monitors the health and performance of the PostgreSQL database used by the CTMPRD demo systems.

Key Metrics:

  • Database connection status and performance.
  • Query response times and resource utilization.
  • Database storage and growth.

Benefit: Ensures database stability and responsiveness, critical for application performance.

  1. AWS Billing Dashboard

Purpose: Tracks and monitors the costs associated with the AWS account hosting the VSE demo systems.

Key Metrics:

  • Total AWS spending.
  • Cost breakdown by service.
  • Cost trends and forecasts.

Benefit: Provides visibility into AWS spending, enabling cost optimization and budget control.
